Travel Information
The town of Bamberg is
situated about 60 km north of Nuremberg in Northern Bavaria (Franconia) at the confluence of the rivers Regnitz and
Main, between the resorts Steigerwald and
Fraenkische Schweiz.
By plane: Visitors arriving from
America or Asia should fly via the International Airports Frankfurt, Munich or Amsterdam to Nuremberg. Frequent
flights connect Nuremberg also with other
German and European cities (see for direct flight connections to Nuremberg http://www.airport-nuernberg.de). Subway No. 2
brings you in 10min from Nuremberg airport
to Nuremberg Central Station. A train, which takes ~ 45 min, leaves Nuremberg Central Station every 20min towards Bamberg. If
you arrive at Frankfurt Airport and proceed
by train, you have to change at Wuerzburg.
By train: The inter-city train
Munich-Berlin stops at Bamberg every two hours. A train, which takes ~ 45 min, leaves Nuremberg Central Station
every 20min towards Bamberg.
DBahn Timetable
By car: Bamberg is well served by
several motorways. You can take the A 70 motorway,
coming either from the motorways A 9 (Berlin-Nuremberg) or A 7 (Hannover-Wuerzburg). If you use the A 3 motorway
(Frankfurt-Nuremberg), you are recommended
to take the B 505 feeder road from the exit Bamberg. If you are on the A 73 motorway (Nuremberg-Coburg) enter the Bamberg Area
at exit Bamberg Ost.
It is also planned to
arrange a shuttle service from Nuremberg airport respectively Nuremberg train station. Details will be announced
