The 5th International Workshop on Modeling in Crystal Growth (IWMCG-5) will take place under the auspices of the German Association of Crystal Growth (DGKK) in Bamberg, Germany from September 10 to 13, 2006.

IWMCG-5 will continue the tradition of the 4 previous workshops to bring together scientists, researchers, industrial engineers and crystal growers working in the field of modeling in crystal growth. The objective is to cover a broad range of topics related to the progress achieved in the field of modeling of bulk crystal growth and thin film deposition. IWMCG-5 is the biggest event of its kind world-wide. Up to 150 participants are expected.

IWMCG-5 will focus on

  • Global modeling of melt and solution growth of semiconductor, metal, oxide and other optical crystals by Cz, VGF, FZ, EFG and other related methods
  • Global modeling of CVD and vapor growth
  • Modeling of crystal growth phenomena taking place at a nano-, meso-, and macro scale
  • Advanced numerical techniques applied to modeling of crystal growth
IWMCG-5 will give an overview about the recent developments in the field of modeling in crystal growth and future challenges to further expand the application of modeling in crystal growth further.

IWMCG-5 will include invited and oral presentations, poster sessions, industrial exhibition, and an open forum for discussions allowing for fruitful exchange between industrial and scientific participants.
